Tattoo Removal Cheltenham

Laser tattoo removal is a safe and effective way of removing that unwanted tattoo.

Tattoos are incredibly popular body art and are worn with pride by thousands. Over time, however, you may wish you could change a little piece here or there, improve upon old work or just simply remove a tattoo that you don’t want to wear anymore.

Tattoo ink particles are too large for the body’s immune system to remove naturally because when tattoo pigment is injected into the lower layers of the skin (dermis) it becomes locked away by a wall of collagen fibres. Q-switched lasers produce very short bursts of high energy laser light. The light is absorbed by the large ink particles, generating heat that shatters the tattoo pigment into minute particles which the body is then able to remove. Because the tattoo ink selectively absorbs the laser energy, the surrounding skin doesn’t overheat so there is no lasting damage.

The Ultimate Skin Numbing Solution

Skin Perfection Laser Tattoo Removal prioritises patient comfort above all else. We want your experience with us to be a great one, which is why we’ve invested in the Zimmer Cryo cooling machine.

The Zimmer Cryo cooling machine blows all your pain worries away. The Zimmer Cryo cooling machine directs freezing cold air (-30ºC) to the treatment site through a long hose. An optional focusing tip can also be attached to deliver precise targeting and controlled skin numbing for smaller tattoos and selective tattoo removal treatments. Best of all, the Zimmer Cryo alleviates your skin DURING your treatment!

Ice packs are effective before and after treatment but often wear off during the actual laser session. Lidocaine injections require a painful needle insertion and numbing creams take forever to take effect. Only the Zimmer Cryo cooling machine can provide maximum skin numbing and comfort before, during, and after your treatment.

Schedule a free consultation at our clinic to experience the Zimmer Cryo’s cooling effects first-hand!

QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

How does Laser Tattoo Removal work?

Q-Switched Lasers generate a high-powered beam of laser light in an extremely short pulse and are the most suitable lasers for tattoo removal treatment. The very short pulse of high powered laser light is absorbed by the tattoo ink particles, breaking them down into smaller pieces, enabling your natural immune defences to absorb and disperse the ink. A gradual fading of the tattoo occurs over a series of treatments.

Does Laser Tattoo Removal hurt?

The level of pain felt will depend on the position of your tattoo, the amount of treatment required and your own pain threshold. Some clients would describe it as no more than uncomfortable, where others will describe it as an elastic band being flicked against the skin. The truth is that you will only know how painful you find it until you try it! A Skin cooling device maybe used to reduce any discomfort.

Is Tattoo Removal Dangerous?

Tattoo removal lasers are very safe. I am a trained professional and rigorously follow all the guidelines and use all the correct safety equipment. The Laser is non-ionising: this means it carries no risk of cancer or other abnormal cell growth. A full medical history is taken at your initial consultation to determine whether you are suitable for treatment.

Does Laser Tattoo Removal cause scarring?

Although there is a risk of scarring with any laser, in most cases, scarring is not a significant risk for tattoo removal with the Nd YAG Laser. Tattoo removal has become associated with scarring because the older generation of Lasers used for tattoo removal were highly aggressive and carried a very high risk of scarring. The Nd YAG Laser does not heat the surrounding skin significantly and the risk of scarring is much reduced. To reduce the risk, we also carry out an extensive medical evaluation to identify high-risk clients.

Are there any side effects?

The following side effects may possibly occur:
Swelling & Redness, like auburn and lasts for only a day or two.
Blistering; this is part of the normal healing process and the skin will heal correctly afterwards.
Infection; There is always a risk of infection. It is very important that you maintain good levels of hygiene.
Scabbing; Occasionally a scab can for, it is very important not to pick any scabbing so you’re not left with a scar.
Hypo-pigmentation; Loss of skin colour may occur but should return in 6-12 months.
Hyper-pigmentation; A gain of skin colour may occur and is usually a temporary effect.
Sunburn; Keep the area covered in a minimum factor 25 at all times.
Pin prick bleeding or weeping; This is normal and nothing to be concerned about.
Allergic Reaction; As your tattoo dye is released into your system, it may be possible to develop an allergic reaction.

How many Laser Tattoo Removal sessions are needed?

Customers will see a reduction after the first treatment, however, to completely remove a tattoo depending on the ink colour and how deep it is in the skin, it could be between 3-5 treatments with intervals of 6 weeks between treatments. With some clients, more sessions may be necessary for complete removal.

What skin types can we treat for Laser Tattoo Removal?

We can treat all skin types with the AW3 Flash Ink Nd YAG Q-switch technology. If you are in good health (no serious health concerns) and do not have hypo/hyper-pigmentation, tanned skin or Keloid scarring in your family or personal history.

How long does the Laser Tattoo Removal treatment take?

This depends on the size of the tattoo; a small tattoo might take 5 minutes, whereas a large, or multiple tattoos could take up to an hour or more of treatment. The consultation will provide this information.

What colour tattoos can we remove with Laser Tattoo Removal?

In principle, the Laser can remove all kind of tattoos. Since all tattoos are not the same in terms of colour, depth & their chemical composition, some may respond differently. Black, Red, Dark Orange & Dark Blue tattoos will typically respond better to treatment with Laser. However, Brown, Purple, Green, Light Orange, Neon & Light Blue colours are harder to remove and can require more sessions.
